Jennifer L. Thompson became a partner at Hart Cantrell & Thompson in January 2024, after joining Hart Cantrell in 2020. She earned her law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law in December 2011 and obtained her Illinois law license in May 2012. Jennifer has practiced in the areas of family law, adoption, family mediation, estate planning, and real estate. While Jennifer remains a Court-approved family law mediator in the First and Second Judicial Circuits of Illinois, her practice focuses on real estate transactions, including writing title insurance for Advocus National Title Insurance Company.  

Jennifer is a current member of the Illinois Bar Association where she serves on the Assembly and also as a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Council and Judicial Ethics Committee Outside Cook County.  She is past President and current member of the Williamson County Bar Association, and past Treasurer and Board Member of Dispute Resolution Institute, Inc., a nonprofit providing mediation services in Illinois.

Jennifer moved to Herrin, Illinois in the summer of 1991 and graduated Herrin High School in 1994. Despite having lived in New York and Texas, Jennifer chose to remain in Southern Illinois to further her education and raise her family. Jennifer appreciates the beauty of the area and the outdoor activities that are available at every turn. She likes to cook and enjoys traveling.
